Get Dazzled at the 10th-Annual Flamenco Festival
10 years is a long time for something to affect the livelihood of those who call a place home. For a decade now, The Adrienne Arsht Center for The Performing Arts has brought Spain’s greatest performers to Miami, infusing the city with foreign culture at its finest. Just a few blocks away from our very walls, they’ll be bringing back the widely successful Flamenco Festival for a 10th year in a row from March 2nd – 5th!
This year’s Flamenco celebration will take place at the cultural institution for three nights of stellar performances featuring some of the very best dancers and musicians straight from Spain. Kicking it all of is the “Stars of Flamenco” performance with big names in Flamenco Puro all directed by Manuel Liñán with an all-star ensemble of 14 spectacular flamenco artists led by the legendary gypsy dancer Juana Amaya who is celebrated throughout Spain for her mesmerizing performances of flamenco puro. It’ll fierce, it’ll dazzle, and it’ll make you want to pick up the genre for yourself.
Then, on March 4th will be a night dedicated to the incomparable Olga Pericet in “Pisadas” accompanied by her company of vocalists and musicians and special guest dancer Juan Carlos Lérida. Catch her as she creates a feminine universe with a visual and choreographic language that asserts her own personal journey. “Her performance at the Arsht Center promises to be a celebration of feminine power where women are the threads that hold the show – and perhaps the universe – together.”
Rounding out the festival on March 5th and returning to Miami following his critically-acclaimed debut in 2014, Jesús Carmona and his company of 11 dancers, musicians and vocalists perform an innovative and emotionally charged program created by Carmona. “Impetus” stars Carmona, who also choreographs and directs this powerful dance interpretation of the most famous scores from Spain’s beloved composers, including Albéniz, Riqueni and Escudero. A dance prodigy, Carmona began his career at age 7, has shared the stage with Spain’s most legendary dancers and was a principal dancer with the prestigious Ballet Nacional de España for three years before creating his own award-winning company.
You can snag your tickets for each of the performances individually or you can get a package for a fraction of the price! Check it all out here.
