A+E Stories: The Tale of Ma-Ka-Rohn

The first time she was introduced to macaroons, Alexandra Montsarrat was hooked. “I became obsessed with them,” she says. “I made them at home for a while and finally just decided to take the plunge and go to pastry school.” She wound up going to school in the South of France, where she met her […]

All the streets around old-town Cartagena look like this. The colors vary, but they are often strong, and lots of nice balconies.

HDR of 3 handheld shots. This time Photomatix was not able to crisply align the images, but I insisted in using it because it is the only shot Ihave of this nice blue building. Cranked up the smart sharpen to make up the fuzziness, used Freaky Detail again (http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2010/archives/8691), which is similar to Nik Tonal Contrast. For scenes with walls like these I prefer freaky detail because Tonal Contrast enhances the roughness of the walls too much. I masked the sky and street when applying freaky detail. Some dodging on the shadowed walls, and then Nik Skylight filter to give it a more sunny look.

5 Reasons to Stay in Miami for the Summer

Contrary to popular belief, Miami knows no low season. If anyone tells you that our city is “dead” during the summer, they clearly don’t know where to look or where to start looking for that matter. Much like the locals that call it home, Miami is vibrant with culture 365 days a year and if […]

A+E Stories: The Tale of Gaucho Ranch

“Of the many start-ups that I have been a part of, this is the first in which I simply began with a mission statement: to serve and educate the community, and worked from there,” says Pablo Liberato, Founder of Gaucho Ranch, a Miami-based grass-fed and sustainable beef retailer. This community-driven way of thinking aligns with […]

Jump into Summer: June Events

After a beautiful (and somewhat indecisive weather-wise) Memorial Day weekend, it’s time to buckle down and admit to ourselves that summer is coming, and fast. With the rise of culture and an expansion of Miami’s creative reservoir, the idea that summer is a “low season” is flying away, becoming a time for locals to thrive […]
